פרופ׳ נעמה כהן-הנגבי
אני חוקרת ימי הביניים המאוחרים בהיבטים הכורכים חברה, תרבות, גוף, בריאות, ידע, אמונה ושייכות דתית. ספרי הראשון עסק ביחס לנפש ולרגשות במחשבה ובפרקטיקה הרפואית בדרום אירופה הנוצרית. עניינו אותי במיוחד החיבורים וההשפעות ההדדיות בין המחשבה הרפואית לתפיסות החטא והכפרה שפותחו בתקופה וכיצד שני התחומים עצבו תורת נפש ונורמות חברתיות באשר לרגשות. דרך דמותו וכתיבתו של הרופא המומר חואן מאביניון פניתי לעסוק בקסטיליה בסוף המאה ה-14 ובתרבות הבריאות והרפואה ותפקידה בעיצוב החברה הנוצרית המתהווה במרחב זה. בשנים האחרונות המחקר שלי התמקד בעדויות וביחס למשברים נפשיים אחרי לידה בימי הביניים.
המחקר על היבטים שונים של בריאות הוביל אותי להתעניין בתפקידן של אמונה, אמון ותקווה בבריאות ורפואה. MedPlaceboEffect בוחן כיצד מבעים אלו, אשר לעיתים נתפסים כמאתגרים את הרפואה המודרנית, הובנו בבריאות ימי הביניים המאוחרים.
אני מכהנת כראשת המכון ללימודים אירופיים ע"ש מוריס א' קוריאל, ועורכת שותפה בכתב העת Mediterranean Historical Review.

ד״ר תמר נדב
ד"ר תמר נדב היא היסטוריונית החוקרת את האופן שבו ידע רפואי עיצב ועוצב על ידי מסורות ידע נוצריות באירופה של ימי הביניים. בספרה, שעתיד להתפרסם בשנה הבאה בפלגרייב מקמילן, היא מספרת כיצד תרם הידע הרפואי שהגיע לאירופה מארצות האיסלאם במאה האחת-עשרה לעיצוב שפה נוצרית חדשה לדיון בתופעות פסיכוסומטיות, וכיצד רופאים בנו את התשתית המדעית לדיון הזה. במסגרת הפרוייקט MedPlaceboEffect, היא תבחן את התשתית המדעית שגיבשו לדיון המדייבלי בתקווה, אמון, אמונה, והשפעותיהם הגופניות והפתולוגיות.
נדב היא בוגרת תוכנית הבתר-דוקטורט של מכון כהן ומחזיקה בתואר דוקטור כפול מאוניברסיטת חיפה ואוניברסיטת פריז-סיטה (Université Paris Cité).
Dr. Limor Yungman
Limor Yungman is a social and cultural historian specializing in the history of food and dietetics in themedieval and early modern Islamic world. Her research explores material practices, gastronomicdiscourse, and the evolution of taste in the Middle East, with a particular focus on recipes as recipes as vehicles of cultural meaning and on the textual formation and diffusion of Arab cuisine. Within the MedPlaceboEffect project, she expands her inquiry to the interface between food and medicine, examining the rhetoric and symbolic forms that shaped trust in medieval Arabic therapeutic recipes rooted in Hippocratic–Galenic humoral theory.
Yungman completed her doctorate at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in Paris with a dissertation titled Les livres de cuisine du Moyen-Orient médiéval (Xe–XVIe siècles) (Cookbooks in the Medieval Middle East, 10th–16th Centuries), which examined cookbooks as social and cultural artifacts from the Abbasid to the Mamluk periods. She is currently preparing this work for publication. She was a fellow at the Martin Buber Society of Fellows at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (2021–2025).
She curated the exhibition Tastes of Heaven: Tales of the Arab Kitchen at the Museum for Islamic Art in Jerusalem (2023–2024) and co-edited its accompanying catalogue. Her publications include studies on Mamluk taste, court cooks, recipe-poetry, alcohol recipes, and digestives. Her forthcoming work examines the roles of cultural brokers and women in the making of Arab culinary history.

שירי סלנט בירנבוים, דוקטורנטית בביה"ס להיסטוריה ע"ש צבי יעבץ, אונ' תל אביב. עבודת הדוקטורט שלה, "רפואה כתרבות: שמירה על בריאות, ויכוח והדדיות במרסי בשלהי ימי הביניים", בהנחיית פרופ׳ נעמה כהן-הנגבי, עוסקת בשמירה על סביבה ובריאות במרחב העירוני הבין דתי של מרסי במאות ה 14-15.
דידי עצמון
דידי עצמון הוא מנהל הפרויקט של MedPlaceboEffect. בעלת תואר שני בהיסטוריה מאוניברסיטת תל אביב. התזה שלה, חומר אפל: אסתטיקה ושעבוד בבית המשפט של איזבלה ד'אסטה, חקרה כיצד ילדים אפריקאים משועבדים שימשו כנכסים אקזוטיים כדי להציג טעם ולהביע כוח במנטובה של המאה ה-15 וה-16.
עמר אלמקייס
עמר חוקרת את תהליך הרפורמציה והשיקום הפיזי והרוחני של זונות לשעבר בדרום-צרפת של המאה ה-14, עם כניסתן למנזר ״החוזרות-בתשובה״ באביניון. עמר היא סטודנטית לתואר שני בחוג להיסטוריה כללית באוניברסיטת תל אביב. את התואר הראשון היא קיבלה מאוניברסיטת תל אביב בהיסטוריה כללית ותולדות האמנות.
אליעזר גרינצווייג
אליעזר הוא סטודנט לתואר שני בחוג להיסטוריה, במגמת ימי הביניים באוניברסיטת תל-אביב. תחום המחקר שלו מתמקד בשחזור החוויה הרפואית של עולה הרגל לאורך הדרך הצרפתית המובילה לקומפוסטלה בין המאות ה-11 וה-14. המקורות המשמשים את המחקר כוללים קורפוסים פורמליים, הגיוגרפיים וספרותיים מאותה עת. בקריירה הקודמת שלו הוא עבד כמהנדס תעשייה וניהול.
דניאל שטרן
דני הוא סטודנט לתואר שני בחוג להיסטוריה במגמת ימי הביניים באוניברסיטת תל אביב. תחום המחקר שלו עוסק בכוחן של סיסמאות, סמלים ודרשות, להניע מגוון רחב של תהליכים כגון מסעי צלב ושינויים חברתיים. עיסוקיהו קודמים כללו הקמת חברות Startup טכנולוגיות.
Yam Michaely
Yam Aharon Michaely is an M.A. student writing his Master’s thesis in the Department of General History at Tel Aviv University. His research explores the causes and functions of warrior emotions in the thirteenth-century in the Iberian peninsula during the Reconquista, with a focus on the cultural, medical and religious dimensions of emotional experience in medieval warfare. He received his Bachelor’s degree in General History and Classical Studies from Tel Aviv University.
Didi Atsmon
Didi Atsmon is the project manager for MedPlaceboEffect. She holds a master’s degree in history from Tel Aviv University. Her thesis, Dark Matter: Aesthetics and Enslavement at the Court of Isabella d’Este, explored how enslaved African children were used as exotic possessions to display taste and assert power in 15th- and 16th-century Mantua.
